Tim Bean, Owner and Lead Designer

VLC Landscaping was started in 2002 when Tim and three of his friends from the high school football team decided to start cutting grass around the neighborhood.  The group acquired a small loan from one of his best friend’s fathers and a 26” Craftsman push-mower was purchased with the cash.  They called the company Varsity Lawn Care.  The time came when the group had to split and follow each of their own individual callings.  Tim was given a full scholarship to play football at a Western Pennsylvania university.  He felt he should keep the company alive while in school.  During that time, Tim expanded – servicing 3 Western PA counties.  He began to see a high demand for additional landscaping services such as mulching, planting and landscape design.  Tim employed about half of the football team in order to keep up with the overwhelming response.  A couple years had passed when Tim was called to transfer to Geneva College.  Here he completed his football career while studying through the business program.  During this time, Tim found his passion for stonework and engineering.  He became accredited through the hardscaping industry and took a number of engineering credits to further his knowledge of construction principles.  The company was re-named VLC Landscaping (Valencia Landscape Construction).  Tim’s been blessed with a close-knit crew who share the same passion for stonecrafting and landscape design as he does; It shows through their award winning designs and creatively detailed schemes.   To this day, Tim and his team service the northern Pittsburgh region and surrounding counties.
